Challenge

Avire approached Euvic to address bug fixes, improve security, and launch an updated version of the SmartView application. As the project progressed, additional tasks emerged, including a complete application redesign and the addition of new features aimed at simplifying the management of lift-installed devices.

Solution

Our team gained access to the existing SmartView web application, explored the database structure, and examined the installer’s application. We strengthened the application’s security measures and integrated additional features.

We then transitioned the application to a cloud-based environment, introduced automation into the software development process, and performed a thorough static analysis of the application’s source code. These efforts culminated in a fully revamped application design, adhering to the latest industry standards and significantly enhancing its user appeal.

SmartView is a comprehensive lift communication solution consisting of several key elements:

  • SmartView Controller: This device, installed within the lift, serves as a central communication hub. It receives and displays messages from the web application and allows trapped individuals to interact using “yes” and “no” buttons.
  • Lift Camera: Positioned inside the lift, this component provides real-time monitoring and visual information to emergency services.
  • Display Unit: The display showcases messages sent by the web application, enabling effective communication and response from individuals trapped in the lift.
  • “YES” and “NO” Buttons: These buttons allow those trapped inside the lift to respond to messages conveyed through the web application.
  • Web Application: The web application functions as the central control system, enabling emergency services to communicate with individuals stuck in the lift. This communication occurs through the display and involves interaction via the “yes” and “no” buttons.

Result

By partnering with Euvic, Avire has introduced an enhanced version of the SmartView application. SmartView now stands as a comprehensive solution, facilitating efficient communication between emergency services and individuals trapped in lifts.

  • Advanced Security: The upgraded SmartView application has successfully passed rigorous penetration tests, ensuring top-notch security.
  • Modern Design: The application now features a contemporary and attractive design, aimed at providing an engaging user experience. This modernised look not only makes it visually appealing but also likely enhances user interaction and ease of use.
  • Enhanced Functionalities: The new version of SmartView introduces improved functionalities that enhance data readability and simplify the management of lifts.
  • Improved Communication in Emergencies: One of the most significant advancements is the application’s role in facilitating effective communication between emergency services and individuals trapped in lifts. This feature could greatly reduce response times in emergency situations, improving safety and potentially saving lives.
