Pronect creates unified data management and faster decision support with Microsoft Fabric

Pronect is a group of companies that provides machinery, tools and software to the manufacturing industry. The company is part of the Linjedahl Group, with headquarters in Värnamo. Since its inception in 2010, Pronect has experienced strong growth, both through organic expansion and through several strategic acquisitions. 

 

Among Pronect’s most significant holdings are: 

  

• PLM – Specialized in 3D printing, with a focus on software but also hardware. 

• Ravema – Provides production equipment, tooling, metrology, automation, and the most complete service and aftermarket solutions on the market. 

• Din Maskin – Supplier of production equipment for sheet metal processing. 

  

 The Pronect subsidiaries operate independently but receive support and expertise from the parent company. To further streamline support and improve business monitoring, Pronect initiated a project in 2022 to integrate all companies into a common data platform. This platform allows Pronect to follow the activities of the group and its subsidiaries in a more agile way, while the individual companies can more easily access and analyze their own data. 

 

Pronect was faced with the challenge of managing the administration required to continuously monitor the subsidiaries’ sales, margins and other key KPIs. Each subsidiary used separate ERP systems with different data sets, which required extensive manual work to compile. In addition, the companies had varying levels of automated reporting and follow-up, where existing BI solutions could not fully meet the companies’ needs. Poor data quality and incomplete reporting meant that systems were not always reliable. 

 

To meet these challenges, a common data platform based on Microsoft Fabric was implemented, where all data from the subsidiaries is collected, validated and enriched. This gives both Pronect and the subsidiaries access to reliable and useful data for business monitoring. 

 

As part of the solution, workshops were conducted with each subsidiary to identify their business needs and translate these into concrete requirements for reporting and dashboards. Pronect provides the platform and the technical pipelines needed, while the subsidiaries themselves order and finance their specific reports. 

 

The introduction of Microsoft Fabric has created a robust data platform that enables a data-driven way of working within Pronect and its subsidiaries. By collecting and structuring data from the different companies, the businesses can now benefit from clearer insights and faster decision support. 

 

A first delivery of BI tools has been made to Ravema Tools, focusing on optimizing sales follow-up and daily work. The tool provides sales management with an overview of sales and margins, while giving each individual salesperson a personalized tool to improve their performance.
